ROUND-TABLE II: Remuneration of financial operators and taking the long term into account in investment decisions
Summary of one of the subjects under debate at the International Conference held in Geneva, 30-30 March 2001: the problems relating to the remuneration of financial operators.
Summary :
Historically, the systems of remuneration linked to the financial market have long remained opaque. In addition, moral and cultural problems are incontestably linked to the functioning of finance in general. The lack of understanding of this problem and its consequences on society by the operators themselves has contributed, until recently, to the negative perception of the world of finance by the public in general. The responsibility of the organization of finance towards how our societies function is undeniable. It must be underlined.
