Summary :
Even if community currencies in the last decades can be tracked since 1982
with Michael Linton’s LET’S initiatives in Canada, there is no doubt that an
extraordinary phenomenon took place in Argentinean “barter networks”, that
deserves a deeper comprehension than the one already achieved. Its evolution
can be described as a single first 23 member “barter club” in 1995, that became a 6-7 million group of people recognizing themselves as current or potential users of the system in 2001, followed by an explosive decay after the economical collapse in 2002.
