Summary :
The article argues that we need to escape “capitalocentrism” and see that there are all sorts of thriving non-capitalist economies, where there may not be a profit motive or market exchange. These solidarity economies are being innovated out of necessity by poor communities and communities of color. Some examples identified in the article include Wellspring (Springfield, MA), Solidarity and Green Economy Alliance (Worcester), Center for Cooperative Development and Solidarity (East Boston), and Boston Ujima Project.
