Notre mission

L’Institut de recherche des Nations Unies pour le développement social (UNRISD) est un institut autonome au sein du système des Nations Unies qui se livre à des recherches pluridisciplinaires sur les dimensions sociales des questions actuelles de développement, et qui analyse les politiques menées sur ces sujets.

Nous nous employons à faire en sorte que l’équité, l’intégration et la justice sociales soient au centre de la réflexion sur le développement, des politiques et de la pratique en la matière. À cette fin,

• Nous portons notre attention sur le contenu social souvent négligé et les conséquences des processus de développement, ainsi que sur le rôle des institutions sociales, des acteurs et des rapports sociaux dans le choix des politiques et des voies de développement;

• Nous associons des chercheurs, des responsables politiques et des acteurs de la société civile du monde entier à la production de savoir et au partage des connaissances afin d’influencer les politiques à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur du système des Nations Unies;

• En travaillant avec des chercheurs individuellement et des institutions de pays en développement dans le cadre de nos projets de recherche, nous renforçons la capacité de recherche de ces pays; et

• Les échanges d’idées auxquels nos activités donnent lieu font ressortir des points de vue peu entendus, remettent souvent en question les principaux courants de pensée sur le développement, et proposent d’autres options en matière de politiques.

Notre mandat

L’UNRISD a été créé en 1963 comme espace autonome de recherche au sein du système des Nations Unies, pour être le fer de lance des travaux sur le développement social, compléter ceux du Secrétariat, des commissions régionales et des institutions spécialisées des Nations Unies, ainsi que d’institutions nationales, et indiquer les politiques à mener.
